Loggers, Hippies, and Hollywood
A film
company rips off a small redwoods town after offering residents big checks
and the sweet possibility of parts in a TV pilot. When the checks bounce,
the town is told there’s nothing it can do. But then, in the coastal
redwoods and in southern California’s affluent Venice and Beverly hills,
the residents go on a dogged hunt for unthinkable and truly wicked
revenge.
Del
Monte’s descriptions of this small town driven by petty jealousies have a
stunning intuitive quality. And she has perfect pitch for the resentments
and backbiting of the residents as they plan revenge.
About the author
JOAN DEL MONTE

Joan Del
Monte, a resident of the Venice canals in southern California, is a
multi-faceted woman. Writer, teacher, lecturer, radio commentator and
successful entrepreneur, Del Monte has owned an antique store, an art
gallery and a real estate company as well as periodically living abroad.
She draws on this rich tapestry of experience in many of her novels. Del
Monte’s summer home in the northern California redwoods provides a
backdrop for “plonk goes the weasel” where the intrusion of
Hollywood energizes the normally discordant logging and academic interests
in the community.
